We advocate a co-ordinated approach to environmental issues at all stages of the life cycle of buildings and their components, including briefing, conception, procurement, design, construction, use and ultimate disposal. Our aims are: To minimise the environmental consequences of the construction process, taking into account the manufacture, transport and life cycle of components. To develop and improve design techniques for predicting building performance to provide an increasingly reliable basis for energy labelling. To encourage use of systems that allow us to conserve resources, recycle materials, use less environmentally damaging alternatives where reasonably practical. To improve environmental awareness of our staff by example and education.
